<div itemprop="description">Collings, Joan Mary ( nee Coomer)<br><br><br><br>Quietly passed away December 13, 2016 in her 97th year, with her family at her side. Predeceased by William (Bill) Collings 1974, son-in-law Don Lane 2016 and granddaughter Jennifer Robinson 2016. Joan was born in Cambridge England. Early years were spent farming in England (apart from just over a year spent in Zimbabwe). The family came to Canada in 1956. Joan leaves her children Bill (Norma), Jill (the late Don), David (Bev), Josie (the late Gary), Ben (Jeanette), Owen (Patsey), and Liz (Bob) along with 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great, grandsons. A private service will be held for her family and a celebration of Mum's life will take place on her birthday in 2017. The family would like to send a sincere thank you to the PSWs with the Ontario March of Dimes who provided Joan with care and assistance allowing her to live in her own apartmemt until this time. We will always remember her passion for lively conversation with friends or strangers alike, retelling her family story. In her later years she knit hundreds of infant vests for children in third world countries. Cremation has taken place.<br><br><br><br>Mrs. Collings is at the Butler Funeral Home, 424 Niagara St. where a Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel on Friday December 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10 until service time.
