<div itemprop="description">SHEDDEN, John Bennie; Passed away peacefully at Linhaven Home on Sunday June 12, 2016, following a period of declining health. He was 87 years old. John was born in Girvan, Ayrshire, Scotland, on August 1, 1928, one of eight children to Lewis and Mary Shedden. <br> <br>After serving in the British Armed Forces, John immigrated to Canada with his family, where he was employed as a millwright at TRW for 29 years. He was a long-time devoted member of many Masonic orders; a Past-Master at the Adanac Lodge; a Companion of Mount Moriah Chapter where he was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award; Sir Knight of Plantagenet Preceptory, where he was the recipient of the Order of Merit; Noble of the St. Catharines Shrine Club and a member of the Scottish Rite. <br> <br>John was the beloved husband of the late Grace Shedden. Dear father to Isabella and the late Ian Thompson, Bill (Mary) Shedden, and predeceased by son John (Ian) and daughter-in-law Cynthia Shedden. Grandfather of Jeffrey (Nicole), Gordon (Daniella) and Michael (Amber) Shedden, and great-grandfather to Lauren, Liam and Winter. <br> <br>Also predeceased by brothers Willie, Bobby, Jim, Lewy, sisters Jeanie, Mary and Jenny and his granddaughter Janice. John will be missed by Wanda Piper and her children Ricky and Jessica, and by his many nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland. <br> <br>A thank you to the staff at Linhaven and a special thank you to Kirsten, Diane, Jennifer and Sharon for their special care. <br> <br>Cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance will be held at BUTLER FUNERAL HOME, ‪424 Niagara Street in St Catharines, ‪on Friday June 17, 2016 at 11:00 am with visitation from ‪9:30 until service time.
